As healthcare consumerism picks up speed, nearly half of employees are struggling to understand the transition and the demands of consumer-directed healthcare plans and health savings accounts.


The surge of popularity may soon be the norm. A Mercer study indicates enrollment in CDHPs have nearly doubled in the last three years among large employers.

Despite this, employees are still reluctant to enroll in CDHPs due to the higher deductible- even if an HSA-eligible CDHP costs 18% less on average than traditional PPOs and means less in terms of paycheck deduction.
